Botanical Illustrations and Flowers

Art is science made clear.

~ Jean Cocteau

The American Society of Botanical Artists defines the botanical art tradition as science and art combined.

"Botanical artists," their Vision Statement says, "seek to understand the structure of plants and to communicate this knowledge to their audience in an aesthetically pleasing manner...whether it takes the form of scientific illustration or realistic drawing and painting of botanical subjects."
